History of the Farm
First settled in 1685 by Martin Pouisson, a French Hugenot refugee from religious persecution, the title deeds were granted in 1707. Pouisson named the farm “Slent”.
Vermentino at Ayama introduces a new wine era to the South African Wine Industry.
We decided to take a detour back to our Italian roots and introduce a truly Italian cultivar to this unique terroir of the Voor Paardeberg. This historical event saw the meeting of two countries becoming one.
The Farm & Wine Shop is the place where Ayama welcomes the customer offering them a wide choice of wine, oil and typical local products.

Wines & Olive Oil
The exceptional terroir of the Voor Paardeberg ward and the grapes cultivated in the area has been the source of various international wine awards. It is the location of this ward that makes it so unique.
The mountain slopes of the Paardeberg, together with the soil composition and prevailing winds, create a specific quality in the grapes. The wines produced here have the potential to become part of the elite wines of the country.
Our territory is also dedicated to the production of extra-virgin olive oil of quality.
